Listed below are some of the questions our helpdesk receives most often from NuclearIQ® users. Click the questions below to view their answers.

 

Yes, NuclearIQ has QC functionality built into the application that allows the User to define a an instrument and then control the input of sample results based on the results of the QC checks that are performed on that instrument.

For Bench Top Instruments, NuclearIQ employs either fixed Limits or the RSD method.

  1. Fixed Limits – The application allows the user to define Fixed Limits using one of three available options. The options are High/Low limit values, Percentage of the Target, or a +/- value of the Target. No matter which method is selected, the limits are fixed about the Target for the instrument.
  2. Relative Standard Deviation Method (RSD) – The application uses the Industry accepted ± 3 Standard Deviation around the Mean. This method will place an instrument Out-of-Control when a QC check in outside 3 Standard Deviation, if there are 2 consecutive points outside 2 Standard Deviations, 2 out of 3 values outside 2 Standard Deviation, etc. There are multiple QC Flag types that are all user definable setting to ensure that NuclearIQ is setup to match your QC program requirements.

The QC Module within NuclearIQ allows the User to set Pre-Analysis QC, Post-Analysis QC OR both Pre-Analysis and Post-Analysis QC checks. Each QC check has an allowable window defined as well. So if a Reactor Boron analysis requires a Pre-QC and a Post-QC, the User can define the acceptance window as within 60 minutes of the Sample Analysis. This ensures that the QC checks are relative for the results that are generated.

In addition, the QC module provides multiple options like these.

  1. Multiple QC instruments can be assigned to an analysis. So, if there are multiple Ion Chromatograph instruments that can be used to perform an analysis, the User can select the instrument used and tie the sample analysis results to a specific instrument. This allows Users to trend the behavior of the results produced by each instrument. Since each data point holds its’ specific QC information, this also allows for detailed auditing of chemistry data in the future.
  2. Instrument Logbook. This functionality allows the User to keep a detailed Logbook of each instrument. The Logbook houses extensive records for each instrument, such as Calibration records, Calibration History, Current Calibration Status, Maintenance Log Entries, Method development packages, Instrument User’s manual, Consumable Parts List, and Out-of-Service times.
  3. Instrument In-Service/Out-of-Service capabilities. The Instrument Log book allows the User to control In-Service/Out-of-Service status of instruments by verifying the Calibration is current and the QC checks have been performed. When a sample result is entered into a system in NuclearIQ, the instrument logbook checks the calibration records to ensure the instrument is calibrated. If the Instrument is Calibrated and In-Service, the QC Module then enforces the QC check requirements (i.e. Control performed within the allowed window, QC check meets RSD Method requirements). If all requirements are met, the results are then stored in the database.
  4. Generate new QC limits using historical data. The application allows you to simple click on the instrument chart that you want to update and automatically retrieve historical results and calculate new 2/3 sigma lines.
  5. Perform f-Test / t-Test analysis of control charts to ensure that they remain valid for the current operating conditions. Providing you with increased confidence of instrument perform and results.

These are just a few of the options available in NuclearIQ to allow Users to tailor the application to their specific needs.

The error messages listed indicate that there may be a problem with the database or an issue with the code. The user will need to contact GCR for further assistance and will need to provide the following information: version of NuclearIQ being run and operation attempted to be performed at the time of error.

This error occurs when the application loses connection with the database temporarily.

This error appears when you run the wrong version of code for the operating system of the machine you are using.

This message indicates that you either a) cannot find the report file that is to be used to print the schedule based upon your sort option or b) cannot access the location set in the options for the Report File Directory.
